Tata Group is one of the prominent companies in India and has been home to millions of people in India, and they have different entities under them, among that Tata Electronics is an electronics and semiconductor manufacturing company which is a key supplier to Apple and Tesla after Chinese companies. Tata Electronics is also one of the key iPhone assembly partners for Apple, having acquired Wistron’s and a majority stake in Pegatron’s India operations.
It has confirmed a data breach, and their data was listed on a hacker forum by a ransomware group called World Leaks, with data sizes covering 630GB of data stolen from the company comprising over more than 204,300 files.
And the documents were mostly related to Tesla and Apple supplier-related and some other confidential information, and that also included some email conversations as well, with researchers noting the leak reportedly includes Outlook emails, SAP data, event logs, and even passport copies of employees. The authenticity of this data has not been independently verified by any outlet.
The company has also confirmed that they were investigating the attack, and the ransom required by the attackers has not been disclosed yet. Apple is also reportedly investigating the incident, and a ransom demand was made, though Tata declined to comment on it.
