OpenAI Buys AI Presentation Startup NextSlide

Listen to this article (AI Voice)

NextSlide is a website product that will turn our prompts, research notes, documents, or any other notes into a beautiful presentation, has been acquired by OpenAI.

If you access the website, there is a short note by the founder Ahmed Beshry explaining the acquisition. You can also find the announcement on his LinkedIn, where Beshry said the disclosure was coming “a few months late” because the deal had actually closed earlier in 2026. NextSlide was founded in the middle of 2025 and it has been seen as the competitor to MS PowerPoint, now has been acquired by OpenAI, which was largely backed by Microsoft. Worth noting — this isn’t Beshry’s first exit either. He previously co-founded Caper AI, a smart cart/checkout startup, which Instacart acquired back in 2021.

And since Microsoft is OpenAI’s largest backer, and also owns PowerPoint, this acquisition puts OpenAI in more direct competition with a product its own investor makes — an interesting tension worth keeping an eye on. And OpenAI will integrate this into their ChatGPT slides to make the user experience better and useful.

The financial terms are not disclosed and the founder said everything about the deal will come out in a few months.
