ChatGPT has now become the primary source of the research and everything or for a simple search like Google before but it also obtained a certain strong space in the search people will use it for daily searches like what is the weather today, which phone I can buy and the comparison and everything but at certain point the chat has a limit whether you need to update your plan or you need to wait certain time to regain the chat.

But now OpenAI has announced they are making text-based chats unlimited to the free users, or more specifically, Free and Go tier users, and they’re making their latest model GPT-5.6 Luna the default model to the free users as it is a more reasonable and advanced model in searching, with OpenAI claiming it produces around 62% fewer factual errors than GPT-5.5 Instant, the model it’s replacing, and it will give more context when the user asks any questions. It’s worth noting this unlimited access only applies to text chats — image generation, file uploads, and voice still have their own limits. OpenAI is also rolling out a new “Think” button alongside this, which lets free users trigger deeper reasoning for harder questions.
The main motive of making it free, as OpenAI claims, artificial intelligence should be a benefit to humanity.
And the update of the unlimited text was slowly rolling out to the free users, with GPT-5.6 Luna becoming the default model this week and the unlimited chats plus the Think button following next week.
