Anthropic Finally Brings Claude Pricing to Indian Rupees

Last week on X (formerly Twitter), I saw one post from an Anthropic spokesperson. I don’t remember his name, but he was quoting from an interview that India has become one of the biggest users of Claude Code, and he was highlighting that India is now Anthropic’s second-largest market after the US, accounting for 5.8% of global Claude usage, and their expansion in India and so on, but on the tweet, someone quoted, “If India were your biggest market, why don’t you bring pricing in Indian rupees?” That was the question asked in the quote.

It is normal, I saw it on my feed, but Anthropic listened, and they have introduced payments in Indian rupees. If we are using Claude from India, it means we can purchase the subscription in Indian rupees. The Pro plan comes at Rs. 2,000/month on annual billing (₹24,000/year), or Rs. 2,399/month if you pay monthly instead, and the Max plan comes at Rs. 11,999 (around 125 USD) for the 5x tier, with a higher 20x tier also available at Rs. 23,999/month for heavier users, as listed on the website, and there are slight changes in the mobile versions.

Now you can pay the subscription amount in Indian rupees with your debit or credit card, but they have not yet integrated a UPI payment gateway into this, which is used mostly in India. Soon they will introduce this as well.
