If you are running a business or handling customers, you definitely need a customer service agent to handle the queries of your customers, and you also need a customer support bot for your business to take care of customers when you are offline or during odd hours. Customer support has improved a lot, from mailing to WhatsApp, and now everything is shifting to AI responding and even making an order to deal with refunds and all.
We all thought that integrating AI into our business portal would reduce our workload and increase the business to deal with our customers, but one story has a different aspect. Let’s see about the story one Redditor has posted about his personal experience that happened to him with his small business. He did not mention what business he was into, but his website AI chat assistant was very smooth for the first six months, and it handled things very well when the owner was not around.
But one day, a random customer chatted with the bot for more than one hour and convinced the chatbot to give him a discount. It was given a 25% discount as per the business rules. The customer continued the chat and convinced the bot to give more discount, and the chatbot generated a fake promo code to give an 80% discount for the purchase amount of 8000 pounds.
When the owner got back and checked this, he got shocked and told the customer to take the order back, but the customer refused and said he would take him to the claims court. He posted the story on Reddit, and fellow Redditors advised him not to allow a chatbot to make financial decisions.
